TESTIMONIAL: "Get the hands-on help and guidance you deserve."
The following is a real-life testimonial from B.S., a recent Interview Coaching Solutions client:
Have you ever wanted a guide to help you through the interview process? Instead of texting your friends with “what should I do?” receiving all varied answers, wouldn’t it be nice to have an expert there to answer your questions and help you along each step of the process?
When I first reached out to Tom, I was at a place of absolute desperation. It might sound dramatic but I hadn’t slept in a week, lost 3 pounds from a lack of appetite, and felt like a complete mess.
After three months of interviewing at a company of my dream, I got to the final round of interviews and blew it. Months of hard work and dreaming: down the drain. I lost.
I knew I needed to do something, but I’ve always been hesitant to hire a coach for anything since they can be expensive, who knows if they are even an “expert,” and there is a lot of free information online.
Honestly, I wasn’t planning on hiring Tom at first. I figured the conversation would be “sales-ey” or feel gimmicky, and convince me that I already had the answers. That was so far from the truth.
He invested over an hour with me before I paid or promised him a cent. It takes a lot for me to hand over my hard-earned money, but after a night of sleeping on it and counsel, I knew it was the right decision.
Let me skip to the end and say that since working with Tom, I got a job offer at a company I wouldn’t have even had the confidence to interview at and on the same day received another offer with the comment that I was “AMAZING at my interview.” Guys, I am not an amazing interviewer.
I could talk for days about all the silly things I have done in interviews pre-Tom. I’m still not perfect, but his guidance helped so much. If you are going to invest in this, you should know a few things:
Sending Tom money is not a magic pill. There is work and practice you need to put in. Be ready to basically have a part time job in interviewing.
He is old school. He is going to ask you to pick up the phone in some cases. He may have white hair, but he understands how to impress hiring managers.
Similar to the above, be ready to get outside of your comfort zone. Some of his suggestions may feel uncomfortable since we are not used to advocating for ourselves. For example, instead of just ending an interview, we practiced a proper close to essentially ask for the job. It felt so awkward! But once I made it my own and put a personal spin on it, it really worked.
Who hires an interview coach? I don’t personally know a single other person who has besides me. But if you are reading this, you know you can use the help. We didn’t learn this in high school and aren’t all born with the skill.
I’m not sure what I’d be doing right now if I never hired Tom. Probably would accept another year of complacency at my current job and watching YouTube videos on interview tips. Get the hands-on help and guidance you deserve. Don’t let your silly interview habits stop you from the job you know you’d love and would be a rockstar in.
