Expert Feedback Reinforces and Encourages Sustained Learning and Retention!

Job Interview Feedback Sustained Learning.jpg

If you have ever attended a corporate or organizational training session, you probably left with educational elements that the company wanted you to learn and hopes you retain. You have every intention of applying this new information, so why is it that within an hour you have lost 50% of what you’ve learned and then within 24 hours you have lost 70% of these new learnings.

The academic research is very clear on these statistics and I can tell you based on my personal experience, they are true. As a corporate trainer for several years, sustaining employee learning was a constant topic of discussion as well as a constant issue with trying to help increase percentages of learning retention.

When I started Interview Coaching Solutions, I was determined to help answer this dilemma with my clients. As a Job Interview Coach, I realized that if all I provided was an outstanding curriculum, but overlooked the notion of helping to sustain my client’s learning, I was not serving them at my highest level! I decided then and there that all of my clients would engage in an active learning and retention sustainability plan at the conclusion of Phase 1 of their customized curriculum.

All of my clients receive a unique, customized curriculum designed to meet their specific needs.

There are two phases contained within their curriculum. The first phase is the customized, holistic, 1:1 job interview coaching. During Phase 1, clients work on their specific, personally-identified needs while perfecting their interviewing skills utilizing practice, mock interviews, and honest feedback to correct any deficiencies and celebrate any process victories. They can also concentrate on other specific issues dealing with confidence, voice modulation, verbal pauses, and many, many other areas that can cause a client to be fearful and insecure about the job interview process.

Once Phase 1 is complete, the client progresses to Phase 2, which is the sustainability phase. After each interview, my clients call me and together we debrief the interview thoroughly. This lasts for three months beginning after their first job interview. This phase provides review and support of the client’s practical application of the principles instructed during their Phase 1 sessions. Together, we analyze what was said by each party, explore the emotions involved during the interview, the atmosphere created by the hiring manager, and any mistakes or victories they felt occurred. Clients capture their learning from each interview and then apply these learnings during the next steps of their interview journey.

This honest, authentic, expert feedback enables clients to sustain the learning from Phase 1 and helps them utilize the key takeaways in the future.

Interview Coaching Solutions believes that when clients are given a mechanism to actively retain their learning in an unbiased, non judgmental arena, their interview skills will remain at a high level - allowing them to be competitive and remain competitive in the job interview market as well as in their future interview journeys.
